Just a quick down and dirty on this great race.

Jarmila and I went down with old man Renehan and Miss Margaret. Wayne and I did the half and the girls did the 10k.

Got to the start line at the half and Wayne and I found we were standing next to Vicki (the machine) Voyzey.  After a short conversation we decided to see if we could run together as Vick said she was running at about our speed. (Wayne and I were very dubious about that!!)

Did not see Dean at the start.  Saw the guy who won the Beach run - don't know his name but he races with the club a bit. He finished in the very low 1.20's so I overheard.

Anyway gun goes off and away we go!  I was staying next to Vicki with old man emu Renehan a couple of strides back on my shoulder.  Managed to run the first 10k's like this and was feeling chuffed that I was managing to stay with Vicki.

Then my elastic band broke and I was just keeping her in sight until the last 3 or 4 K's.

Old man emu (sekrit trainer) Renehan stayed with Vicki until the last 2km's where she kicked a bit and won the day.  I managed a 1.44 which I am very happy about considering I was pushing too fast for me on the first lap to try to remain with Vicki.

Have not looked at other times but Dean appeared to be going really well and how good is Clarkey - told he would possibly never run again after his accident and was way under 1.30 - again I have not looked but low 1.20's I think.

A great day and a very well run event.  The girls loved to 10k as well.

Will be back for this one next year.

Thanks for organising that, I'm not sure why you guys always let me get so unfit before letting me know these things. suspious

Was a great way to spend an hour gasping for breath like a beached whale......

And young Deano, shared a lane with the young fella and spent an hour trying to catch him!!!, after one set, a 200 I think, he finished nearly a lap in front(12 metre pool) whistle, he says " What happened? Did you stop???? Cheeky bugger...... Angry

Was good to get wet again though........can't say if, or how long, any improvement will take..........

Ant told me the afternoon Tri squad is for pussies!!! yes yes

Come to the 6 am squad where one is the oldest by about 40 PLUS years and then you will know what it is like to get your butt kicked by the wind up toys!!!! yes yes embarrass

Little shites don't know the meaning of WARMUP!!  They just go flat strap from the get go!!!

I've used it in nearly all my Ironmans with all bad results, suspious but I always thought that I was just shite........had I known I could have been blameing the Opti all this time.......... whistle

However Cookie, the "Old Man" of Tomaree butt makes the very valid point, it is, what works for the individual, not what you read on an internet forum that counts

 Cool

I have finally conceded that the Port ½ is going to be beyond me now. I have been a lot stressed lately worrying about if I could do it or not but now that I have made a decision I am feeling much better.

Canberra?? I have only ever been there once and that was a Friday evening drinking session turned into mad dash road trip for fireworks and adult entertainment. What a trip. crazy Fell asleep on the lawn "roof" of parliament house with a half empty carton next to me. They have big security guards down there.  laugh laugh Might be time to make a trip back to the nations capital but for something a little more wholesum!!  whistle whistle

Are there any others heading south for this one??

Have heard more bad reports than good, had a friend that stuck with it through several ironman events, used it in training with good results but when it came to the race he always had gut problems and did'nt have a good race each time he used it ? maybe its a trial and error product that has to be tested at race levels and see how the gut reacts, at the end of the day use what works for you !!!
