Hi all,

Just today I went out to Horsley Park to visit the olymic equestrian centre which was hosting round two of the state duathlon championships. This one was very different with a mix of crushed rock paths, fire trails, single track and some bitumen.

I do have a mountain bike so I thought I would give it a go.

First up was a 2 lap 4k run. Again cross country, mostly grass and some paths. Not a bad start and up the front 6 or so.

Then onto the bike and the shoe change is not as easy as I have laces and all. Shocker and lost a couple of places there. 4 laps here for a 26K total. It is bloody hard work for not a lot of reward. Hit the grass and things just go in slow motion! that was a tough ride, hard on the arms and on the lower back! lost a couple of positions here since I ride like a grandma through the technical parts after my crash.

Off the bike and onto the last run. Another 4K, this time a bit slower but made back a couple of spots. Overall in the top ten which was good enough for a 3rd in the AG.

Not a bad race, a bit of a novelty. Good on Tri NSW for having the duathlon series, keeping the racing spirit alive over the winter monmths is nice.

BTW: it was manually timed  laugh

Have spoken to a few blokes during the week who did this, they all said it was a great race and well worth doing.

Should have probably gone down and had a go myself...........but I don't have a mountain bike!
